Background

Increasing the filler content in printing and writing papers is crucial to improve the quality of the product as well as to reduce raw material and energy costs. However, replacing the cellulose fibers with fillers like calcium carbonate and clay reduces the strength of the formed sheet. Another problem that arises when increasing the filler content is that of making it more difficult to distribute the filler evenly throughout the three-dimensional sheet structure. One way to reduce these negative effects of increased filler content is to preflocculate the fillers before they are added to the wet end process system of the paper machine.

The existing preparation process of the pre-flocculant is complicated, the equipment cost is high, the time period is long, the popularization and the use are not facilitated, and the flocculation capacity of the existing flocculant still needs to be improved.
