背景技术:

柴油是能量密度最大的液体燃料,是压燃式内燃机目前唯一可用的燃料,所以压燃式内燃机也称为柴油机。柴油馏程高,粘度大,雾化困难,经柴油机喷油器雾化后柴油粒径为30-50μm,粒径大且不均匀,蒸发、扩散、氧化速度慢。另一方面柴油机喷油时间短,油料来不及与空气均匀混合,尽管过量空气系数在1.3以上,燃烧室局部地方仍然供氧不足。后期喷油时,燃烧室环境更为恶劣,甚至拖延到排气阶段燃烧,排气中不可避免产生颗粒物和碳氢化合物等,浪费油料又污染环境,机动车排气污染是造成灰霾、光化学烟雾的重要原因,其中柴油车排放的氮氧化合物接近汽车排放总量的七成,颗粒物超过九成。世界卫生组织将柴油车排气污染提升至确定致癌级别。

有报道称如果将全世界的重柴油、燃料油为燃料的轮船集中,轮船将成为第五大温室气体国。以重柴油为燃料的船用重型柴油机功率巨大,单台排气污染相当于万台以上柴油车的排气污染,给港口城市造成严重空气污染。减少柴油机排气污染仍然是迫切需要解决的问题。

柴油机效率比汽油机高,油耗比汽油机低,但燃烧的油料仍然只有三分之一左右,转化为有用功,三分之一左右被排气带走,三分之一左右被水冷散热系统带走,使用效果难尽人意。
