A polyurethane precursor composition, comprising:

(a) a polyol;

(b) a polyisocyanate; and

(c) the reactive ultraviolet absorber according to claim 1,

wherein the reactive ultraviolet absorber is present in an amount of about 0.1 wt% to about 50 wt%, based on the total weight of component (a), component (b), and component (c).

The polyurethane precursor composition of claim 2, wherein the reactive ultraviolet absorber is present in an amount from about 0.5 wt% to about 10 wt%, based on the total weight of component (a), component (b), and component (c).

The polyurethane precursor composition of claim 2, wherein the polyol is selected from the group consisting of: ethylene glycol, 1, 2-propylene glycol, 1, 3-propylene glycol, 1, 2-butylene glycol, 1, 3-butylene glycol, 1, 4-butylene glycol, glycerol, trimethylolpropane, Pentaerythritol, Polycarbonate polyols, polyacrylate polyols, polyether polyols, polyester polyols, and combinations thereof.

The polyurethane precursor composition of claim 2, wherein the polyisocyanate is selected from the group consisting of: toluene Diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), Hexamethylene Diisocyanate (HDI), cyclohexane diisocyanate (CHDI), tetramethylxylylene diisocyanate (TMXDI), 1, 3-bis (isocyanatomethyl) cyclohexane (Hydrogenated m-Xylylene diisocyanate, H6XDI), Isophorone diisocyanate (isophor diisocyanate, IPDI), methylenebis (4-cyclohexylisocyanate) (hcdi), biuret, dimers and trimers and prepolymers of the foregoing, and combinations thereof.

The polyurethane precursor composition of any one of claims 2-5, further comprising a component selected from the group consisting of: solvents, catalysts, antioxidants, fillers, compatibilizers, flame retardants, heat stabilizers, light stabilizers, metal deactivators, plasticizers, lubricants, emulsifiers, dyes, pigments, brighteners, antistatic agents, blowing agents, chain extenders, hydrolysis resistance agents, surfactants, crosslinking agents, photoinitiators, pH adjusters, adhesion promoters, bactericides, and combinations thereof.

The polyurethane precursor composition of claim 6, wherein the chain extender is a hydrophilic chain extender selected from the group consisting of: dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), dimethylolbutyric acid (DMBA), and combinations thereof.

Polyurethane resistant to the harmful effects of ultraviolet light, obtained by polymerization of a polyurethane precursor composition according to any one of claims 2 to 7.

A polyurethane article comprising the polyurethane fiber, coating, elastomer, foam, adhesive, or sealant of claim 8.

A method of combating the harmful effects of ultraviolet light, characterized in that it uses a polyurethane according to claim 8.
