Referring to fig. 1 and 2, an overrunning belt pulley system of an automotive alternator includes an engine crankshaft belt pulley 1, an air conditioner compressor belt pulley 2, an overrunning belt pulley 3, a tension pulley 4, an idler pulley 5, a water pump belt pulley 6 and a belt 7; the inner side of the belt 7 bypasses the engine crankshaft pulley 1, the air conditioner compressor pulley 2, the overrunning pulley 3 and the water pump pulley 6, the outer side of the belt 7 bypasses the tension pulley 4 to tension the belt 7, the idler pulley 5 is in contact with the outer side of the belt 7, and the idler pulley 5 can control the contact area of the belt 7 on the water pump pulley 6 and the generator pulley 3.
