Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to a simulation for determining gas or ion transportability inside a pore with high accuracy. In particular, the present invention relates to a parameter determination method for determining a value of a parameter to be applied to a simulation for accurately determining the transportability of gas or ions in a pore, and a simulation method for determining the transportability of gas or ions in a pore by applying a value of a parameter determined by the parameter determination method.
Background
In view of the situation such as market expansion of energy companies, studies on improvement of performance and cost reduction of fuel cells are being carried out. Under such circumstances, it is important to control the catalyst layer, which is the core of the stack of the heart portion of the fuel cell system or the MEA (membrane electrode Assembly), and finally it is desired to be able to determine the optimum structure of the catalyst layer and the manufacturing process thereof based on the operating conditions and the cell structure without trial production. In other words, it is strongly desired to propose a simulation method for making the catalyst layer an optimum design.
Generally, the catalyst layer has a porous structure and is composed of a catalyst metal, a carbon support that supports the catalyst metal and conducts electrons, a polymer electrolyte that conducts protons to the catalyst metal, and pores through which a gas such as hydrogen or oxygen diffuses.
However, the above-described constitution has the following problems: since the polymer electrolyte that is responsible for proton conduction is in direct contact with the catalyst metal, although proton transportability can be ensured, the catalyst metal is poisoned by the polymer electrolyte and the catalytic activity is lowered, and a trade-off is made with respect to the power generation performance of the fuel cell.
Therefore, the following simulation methods have been proposed: as a proton supply path to the catalyst metal, a configuration is assumed in which liquid water is used instead of the polymer electrolyte, and the substance transport and electrochemical characteristics in the liquid water inside the pores are calculated to predict the power generation performance inside the pores (for example, non-patent document 1).

Detailed Description
(procedure for obtaining one mode of the present disclosure)
The present inventors have conducted intensive studies on the problem of the trade-off regarding the power generation performance as described above, and as a result, have obtained the following findings.
First, as a configuration for solving the above-described trade-off problem, the following configuration can be proposed. Namely, the following constitution: the catalyst metal is supported inside the pores of the carbon support itself by utilizing the property that the polymer electrolyte cannot penetrate into the small pores, and instead of the polymer electrolyte, the liquid water inside the pores is used as a proton supply path to the catalyst metal. With such a configuration, the polymer electrolyte can be prevented from coming into direct contact with the catalyst metal, and the activity of the catalyst metal can be suppressed from being lowered.
However, since there are many unknown points of the physical phenomenon in the liquid water inside the pores, it is necessary to develop a new simulation method for quantitatively predicting the conditions of the pores that are optimal in order to improve the power generation performance. In particular, it is important to develop a simulation method capable of quantitatively predicting the material transportability in the pores, which is highly related to the power generation performance. For example,
However, the present inventors have paid attention to the substance transportability in the inside of the nano-order pores, particularly, the transportability of a gas such as oxygen. Further, it was found that when the gas transportability inside the pores is evaluated, it is necessary to consider a mode of adsorption and desorption of the gas to and from the wall surfaces inside the pores.
That is, the present inventors clarified by molecular dynamics calculations that: the gas concentration inside the pores becomes higher by adsorption than the gas phase space outside the pores. Then, based on the results, it was found that the gas in the pores was transported while being repeatedly adsorbed and desorbed on the wall surface. Therefore, it has been found that, in order to evaluate the gas transportability in the pores, it is necessary to consider a method of transporting a gas while repeating adsorption and desorption on the wall surface in the pores.
However, in
More specifically, it is believed that the following trade-offs are made: in the pores, the gas is adsorbed by the pore wall surfaces to hinder the gas transport, while the gas concentration in the pores increases to improve the reactivity of the catalyst. However,
The above findings of the present inventors have not been clarified so far, and have new technical features. In the present disclosure, the modes shown below are specifically provided.
A parameter determination method according to a first aspect of the present disclosure is a parameter determination method for determining a value of a parameter that specifies a boundary condition at an interface between a wall surface in a pore and a gas or ion, the parameter being used in a simulation for determining transportability of the gas or ion in a pore space, the parameter determination method including: determining a value of the parameter reproducing a 1 st concentration ratio as a value of the parameter which determines a boundary condition at an interface between the wall surface of the pore space and the gas or the ion, the 1 st concentration ratio indicating a ratio of a concentration of the gas or the ion in the pore to a concentration of the gas or the ion outside the pore.
According to the above-described parameter determination method, the value of the parameter reproducing the 1 st concentration ratio can be determined as the value of the parameter for determining the boundary condition at the interface between the wall surface of the pore space and the gas or ion. Therefore, the transportability of gas or ions inside the pores can be determined by simulation in consideration of the adsorption and desorption of gas or ions to and from the wall surfaces inside the pores. The term "gas or ion transport property" refers to the concentration of gas or ions in a stable state.
Therefore, the parameter determination method according to
The parameter determination method according to
In addition to the above-described 1 st aspect, the parameter determination method according to claim 3 of the present disclosure may further include a step of calculating the 1 st concentration ratio before the step of determining the value of the parameter.
In the parameter determination method according to the 4 th aspect of the present disclosure, the 1 st concentration ratio may be calculated by molecular dynamics calculation in addition to the 3 rd aspect.
In addition to any one of the above 1 to 4 aspects, the parameter determination method according to
According to the above-described parameter determination method, the value of the parameter can be determined so that the 2 nd concentration ratio obtained by the diffusion equation matches the 1 st concentration ratio calculated by the molecular dynamics calculation in the first step. Therefore, the gas or ion transport property inside the pores can be simulated with high accuracy by the diffusion equation to which the determined parameter values are applied as the boundary conditions.
Therefore, the gas or ion transport properties in the pore space can be determined by a simple diffusion equation using the values of the determined parameters as boundary conditions without performing molecular dynamics calculation.
In addition to the above-described 5, the parameter determination method according to
In the parameter determination method according to claim 7 of the present disclosure, in addition to any one of the above-described 1 to 6, the diameter of the fine pores may be 10nm or less.
Here, when the diameter of the pore is as small as 10nm or less, the influence of adsorption and desorption of gas or ions to and from the wall surface inside the pore is considered to be larger than that of the pore having a larger diameter. Therefore, in the parameter determination method according to the 4 th aspect, since the value of the parameter that determines the boundary condition at the interface between the wall surface of the pore space and the gas or ion can be determined, the transportability of the gas or ion inside the pore can be obtained with high accuracy by simulation in consideration of the mode of adsorption and desorption of the gas or ion to and from the wall surface inside the pore.
In the parameter determination method according to claim 8 of the present disclosure, in addition to any one of the above-described 1 to 7, the fine pores may contain carbon.
In the parameter determination method according to claim 9 of the present disclosure, in addition to any one of the above-described 1 to 8, the pores may be pores of a carbon support in the electrode catalyst layer.
When the pores are in the electrode catalyst layer, the gas or ion transport properties inside the pores of the electrode catalyst layer can be accurately determined by simulation using the values of the determined parameters, and therefore the power generation performance in the electrode catalyst layer can be predicted.
In the simulation method for determining the transportability of a gas or ion within a pore according to the 10 th aspect of the present disclosure, a value of a parameter determined by a parameter determination method including the step of determining a value of the parameter reproducing the 1 st concentration ratio representing the ratio of the concentration of the gas or ion within the pore to the concentration of the gas or ion outside the pore as a value of a parameter for determining the boundary condition at the interface between the wall surface of the pore and the gas or ion is applied as a value of a parameter for determining the boundary condition at the interface between the wall surface and the gas or ion within the pore, and the change in the concentration of the gas or ion is calculated by a diffusion equation.
According to the simulation method for determining the transportability of gas or ions in the pores described above, the value of the parameter reproducing the 1 st concentration ratio can be determined as the value of the parameter that determines the boundary condition at the interface between the wall surface of the space in the pores and the gas or ions. Therefore, the gas or ion transport property inside the pores can be determined in consideration of adsorption and desorption of the gas or ion to and from the wall surface inside the pores. The gas or ion transport property means a concentration of gas or ion in a steady state.
Therefore, the simulation method for determining the transportability of gas or ions in the pores according to the 10 th aspect of the present disclosure has an effect of being able to determine the transportability of gas or ions in the pores with high accuracy.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings. In the following description, the same or corresponding constituent elements are denoted by the same reference numerals throughout the drawings, and the description thereof may be omitted. In order to calculate the gas transportability inside the carbon pores 105, the processing contents of steps (1) to (3) performed by the simulation method according to the embodiment are as follows.
Step (1) is a step of calculating the concentration ratio of gas (oxygen) inside and outside the carbon pores 105 by molecular dynamics calculation. Step (2) is a step of determining the value of the adsorption parameter for reproducing the concentration ratio of the gas calculated in step (1). Step (3) is a step of calculating the gas transportability in the
Calculation of concentration ratio of gas inside and outside pores by molecular dynamics calculation; step (1) ]
First, step (1) will be explained. This step (1) corresponds to the construction of the model shown in step S61 and the calculation of molecular dynamics shown in step S62 in the flowchart shown in fig. 6. In the molecular dynamics calculation performed in the embodiment, J-OCTA (registered trademark) known as material physical property analysis software can be used, for example.
First, a process performed in the step of constructing the model (step S61) will be described.
Initially, respective suitable force fields for oxygen molecules and graphite are set. The force field can be set arbitrarily, but a highly reliable force field is preferably used. As the highly reliable force field, for example, a general-purpose force field (for example, AMBER, dry, OPLS in the case of organic molecules, SPCE in the case of water molecules, or the like) or a literature value can be used. It is preferable to determine the adequacy of the set force field by checking the reproducibility of physical property values such as density and diffusion coefficient in an actual system.
In the molecular dynamics calculation, the interaction acting on the oxygen molecules, in which the energy of the oxygen molecules changes according to the intermolecular distance, is calculated based on the force field set as described above. Then, the change in the coordinate position of the oxygen molecule subjected to the interaction is calculated, and the calculation is repeated and time-advanced to obtain data indicating the change with time in the coordinate position of the oxygen molecule.
Next, graphite surfaces shown in fig. 2 were prepared and assembled to prepare a model simulating the pore

[ determination of adsorption parameters for the concentration ratio of the reproduced gas; step (2) ]
Then, the decision can be reproduced as described aboveAdsorption parameter (parameter) A of gas concentration ratio calculated by molecular dynamics calculation of1、A2The process of (2) will be explained. In this process, for example, a finite element method may be used to set a grid (cell) and determine the adsorption parameter a1、A2. The purpose of this step (2) is mainly to calculate an adsorption parameter A that can reproduce the gas concentration ratio calculated by the molecular dynamics calculation of step (1)1、A2. In addition, in step (2), in the flowchart shown in fig. 6, the calculation of the diffusion equation (step S63), the branching process of determining whether or not the gas concentration has not changed (step S64), the branching process of determining whether or not the gas concentration ratio matches (step S65), and the resetting of the adsorption parameters (step S66) are performed.
First, for the adsorption parameter A to be obtained1、A2The description is given. As shown in FIG. 4, the oxygen concentration of the mesh in contact with the wall surface is defined as the oxygen concentration C in the vicinity of the wall surfacei,jThe adsorption of gas to the wall surface can be considered as the oxygen concentration C in the vicinity of the wall surfacei,jAnd the oxygen concentration C of the wall surfacebSome of the concentrations were exchanged with each other and changed with time to reach an equilibrium state. The term "a part of the concentration of oxygen molecules exchanged with each other" means that oxygen molecules present in the vicinity of the wall surface are exchanged with oxygen molecules present in the same ratio as the oxygen molecules present in the wall surface. That is, in fig. 4, a boundary condition is determined in which oxygen molecules are exchanged with each other at the same ratio between a mesh portion of a wall surface (wall surface portion) and a mesh portion adjacent thereto (wall surface vicinity portion).
Next, the adsorption parameter A is introduced1、A2. Oxygen concentration C in the vicinity of the wall surfacei,jWill be A of itself1Multiple concentration of A1×Ci,jOxygen concentration C of wall surface released to next timeb'. In addition, the remaining (1-A)1)×Ci,jThe oxygen concentration Ci, j' in the vicinity of the wall surface at the next time also remains. On the other hand, the wall surface oxygen concentration CbWill be A of itself2Multiple concentration of A2×CbOxygen concentration C in the vicinity of the wall surface released to the next timei,j' Release. And, the rest of (1-A)2)×CbOxygen concentration C of wall surface at the next timebThe retention in the reactor was also observed. Therefore, the oxygen concentration C in the vicinity of the wall surface at the next timei,j′Oxygen concentration C of wall surface at the next timeb′Each can be expressed by the following formula (1). Furthermore, in the mathematical formula (1), A1、A2[-]Denotes the adsorption parameter, Ci,j[mol/m3]Indicates the oxygen concentration in the vicinity of the wall surface, Cb[mol/m3]Represents the oxygen concentration of the wall surface, Ci,j′[mol/m3]Indicates the oxygen concentration, C, in the vicinity of the wall surface at the next timeb′[mol/m3]Indicates the oxygen concentration on the wall surface at the next time.
First, in order to obtain the adsorption parameter A1、A2For the purpose of calculating the oxygen concentration in the
Specifically, as the initial value, an arbitrary oxygen concentration, for example, 1[ mol/m ], is set for the pore outer space 43]. For the other region, an arbitrary value, for example, 0[ mol/m ] is set3]. Here, the above-described equation (1) is used as a boundary condition at the interface of the carbon pores 105 for the oxygen supplied from the pore
In this calculation, immediately after the start of the calculation, the oxygen concentration distributions in the pore
After the calculation of the diffusion equation is performed as described above, the determination process shown in the next step S64 is performed. This determination process is a branching process for determining whether or not there is a change in the oxygen concentration in the
When it is confirmed that the steady state is reached and the process proceeds to step S65, the gas concentration ratio (2 nd concentration ratio) is calculated by dividing the oxygen concentration set in the pore
When the simulation device according to the embodiment of the present disclosure determines that the gas concentration ratios match each other in step S65, the adsorption parameter a that is the gas concentration ratio calculated by the molecular dynamics calculation in step (1) can be determined1、A2. In other words, the adsorption parameter a that can reproduce the adsorption of gas to the wall surface of the carbon pores 105 can be determined1、A2. Thus, the process of step (2) is ended.
In the method for determining adsorption parameters using the simulation apparatus according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, the above-described step (1) is performed, and the gas concentration ratio obtained in the step (1) is compared with the gas concentration ratio calculated by the calculation of the diffusion equation (step S63) in the step (2), and it is determined whether or not the gas concentration ratios match each other. However, step (1) does not necessarily need to be performed in the method for determining an adsorption parameter according to the embodiment of the present disclosure. For example, a gas concentration ratio indicating a ratio of gas concentrations in the pore
Applying the adsorption parameters to the boundaries between the gas and the wall surfaces of the carbon pores to calculate the transportability of the gas in the pore space; step (3) ]
Next, step (3) will be explained. In this step (3), the adsorption parameter A obtained in step (2) is substituted1、A2The formula (1) of (a) is applied as a boundary condition on the wall surface of the carbon pores 105. By solving the diffusion equation of the gas in the
As described above, in step (3), the embodiment of the present disclosure applies the adsorption parameter a determined in step (2) by using the boundary condition at the interface between the wall surface of the carbon pores 105 and the gas1、A2The simulation of the diffusion equation of (2) can accurately determine the gas transportability in the
Therefore, when the

In the method of determining adsorption parameters according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, the gas transportability inside the carbon pores 105 is calculated, but the method can be applied not only to the gas transportability but also to the ion transportability. For example, in a lithium ion battery, lithium ions move in a negative electrode having a layered carbon structure. Therefore, the method for determining the adsorption parameter according to the embodiment of the present disclosure can be used to simulate the lithium ion transport performance in the negative electrode of the lithium ion battery.
