1. An apparatus for performing peritoneal dialysis, the apparatus comprising: means for delivering dialysate to a peritoneal cavity of a patient; a measuring device for measuring the fluid pressure of the delivered dialysis fluid and/or the fluid pressure in the peritoneal cavity, i.e. the intra-peritoneal pressure and/or any pressure related to the intra-peritoneal pressure; and a control unit operatively connected to the device and the measuring device,

it is characterized in that the preparation method is characterized in that,

the control unit is configured to implement an inflow phase or an outflow phase comprising a series of injection and measurement steps or drainage and measurement steps, each step comprising: delivering a predetermined amount of dialysate to or draining a predetermined amount of dialysate from the peritoneal cavity, and subsequently measuring and recording pressure values; or a measurement routine comprising a continuous inflow of dialysate to or a continuous outflow of dialysate from the peritoneal cavity and recording pressure values during the inflow or outflow of dialysate; or comprises a semi-continuous routine as a combination of both, or the control unit is configured to: enabling dwell phase pressure measurements during dwell; establishing a function of the intraperitoneal pressure with an increased volume or absolute intraperitoneal volume; and generating and outputting at least one prediction or recommendation related to the treatment using the function.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the control unit is configured to: establishing a relationship between IPP (interperitoneal pressure) and IPV (interperitoneal volume); and analyzing the relationship to obtain a prediction parameter for the at least one therapy-related prediction or recommendation.

3. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the treatment-related recommendation is regarding at least one of an optimal infusion amount of dialysate in the peritoneal cavity, an optimal dwell time, or an optimal number of inflow-dwell-outflow cycles.

4. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the prediction related to treatment is at least one of total treatment time or ultrafiltration volume.

5. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the control unit is configured to: the inflow phase is initiated after complete drainage of dialysate from the peritoneal cavity.

6. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the means for delivering dialysate to the peritoneal cavity of the patient comprises at least one pump or, in the case of gravity-driven flow of dialysate, no pump.

7. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the control unit is configured to: using the first pressure value determined during the first injecting and measuring step as an offset, and establishing a function of pressure and increased capacity based on all subsequent pressure values determined during subsequent injecting and measuring steps or routines, each subsequent pressure value being corrected by subtracting the offset.

8. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein when applying the injecting and measuring step or the draining and measuring step, the controlling is configured to: in all cycles, the same amount of dialysate is delivered to or drained from the peritoneal cavity.

9. The device according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the number of injection and measurement steps or drainage and measurement steps is more than five, and preferably more than ten, when applied.

10. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the control unit is configured to: taking into account dynamic pressure measurements obtained during the inflow phase or the liquid inflow or liquid outflow in the outflow phase during a continuous routine, wherein preferably dynamic pressure effects are taken into account to correct the pressure values.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the control unit is configured to: when performing dynamic pressure measurements, the inflow rate or outflow rate is temporarily slowed down.

12. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the control unit is configured to: both dynamic and static pressure measurements are considered.

13. The apparatus of any preceding claim, wherein the measurement device is or comprises at least one sensor.

14. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the measuring means comprises a tube connected to a patient conduit, wherein a level of dialysate in the tube is indicative of the intra-peritoneal pressure, and wherein the measuring means further comprises means for measuring the level.

15. The apparatus of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the control device is adapted to: in case the intra-peritoneal pressure reaches a certain maximum level, the further flow of dialysis fluid into the peritoneum is stopped.
