The entire mechanical assembly has chiral double reflection symmetry as a kinematic structure. This kinematic design produces translational orbital motion of the cubes relative to each other while maintaining pose and also following a straight line trajectory. The trajectory is the sum of the five necessary translations required for 360 degree performance of one of the cubes around the other. The system achieves a state of coincidence between two faces (one face for each cube) and the translation plane or between two edges (one edge for each cube) and the same straight line. Each mechanical assembly contained within each cube frame uses only one rotational input as a drive source. Each individual mechanical assembly consists of a planetary gear arrangement, a rotary linkage driven by the planetary gears and a periodically closed shaped cam rigidly attached to the planet carrier. The cam determines the behaviour of the sun gear by means of rack engagement, which follows oscillations of a particular function.)
