1. An electrical connector, comprising:

a housing having a card slot into which an electronic card is inserted and openings at both sides of the card slot; and

a plurality of contacts, each contact comprising a plurality of individual members, each member in the form of a beam having a contact portion, each contact inserted into one of the openings,

wherein the plurality of contact portions of each contact are arranged along an insertion direction of the electronic card.

2. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein an end of each member distal from the slot of the card slot is secured within the opening, the contact portion of each member being disposed on the end of the member proximal to the slot of the card slot.

3. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein the housing has a mating face and a mounting face oppositely disposed along the insertion direction, the card slot is disposed at the mating face, each of the openings includes a first sub-opening and a second sub-opening communicating with each other, the first sub-opening extends from the mounting face to an inner side wall of the card slot and communicates with the card slot, the second sub-opening is located at an outer side of the first sub-opening with respect to the card slot, a longitudinal dimension of the second sub-opening is larger than a longitudinal dimension of the first sub-opening, the second sub-opening extends from the mounting face into the housing, and the card slot extends along the longitudinal direction.

4. The electrical connector of claim 3, wherein the plurality of members of each contact include a body and a contact arm connected to each other, the body being closer to the mounting face than the contact arm, the contact being located on the contact arm, the body of each of the plurality of members having a longitudinal dimension greater than a longitudinal dimension of the respective contact arm, the body of the plurality of members of each contact being press-fit into the second sub-opening.

5. The electrical connector of claim 4, wherein the body of at least one of the plurality of members of each contact has a resilient lug projecting therefrom in a direction perpendicular to the insertion direction, the resilient lug bearing against an inner side wall of the second sub-opening or an adjacent member.

6. The electrical connector of claim 4, wherein the contact arms of the plurality of members of each contact are received within the first sub-opening.

7. The electrical connector of claim 3, wherein the first sub opening communicates with the second sub opening along the insertion direction through a trapezoidal opening that is divergent along the insertion direction.

8. The electrical connector of claim 3, wherein each of the openings further comprises a third sub-opening, the third sub-opening communicating with the first sub-opening, the third sub-opening being located outside of the first sub-opening relative to the card slot, the third sub-opening being closer to the mating face relative to the second sub-opening, the third sub-opening having a longitudinal dimension greater than a longitudinal dimension of the first sub-opening.

9. The electrical connector of claim 8, wherein the first and third sub-openings extend to the mating face.

10. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein the plurality of members of each contact are aligned along the insertion direction, and members closer to the slot of the card slot are further to the outside relative to the card slot in a lateral direction that is perpendicular to the insertion direction and perpendicular to a longitudinal direction in which the card slot extends.

11. The electrical connector of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of members of each contact has a projection by which it engages an adjacent member.

12. An electrical connector, comprising:

a housing having a card slot into which an electronic card is inserted; and

a contact disposed within the housing, the contact comprising separate first and second members, each of the first and second members being beam-shaped, a projection being provided on the first or second member, the first and second members being engaged by the projection,

wherein the first member has a first contact portion, the second member has a second contact portion, and the first contact portion and the second contact portion are aligned along an insertion direction of the electronic card.

13. The electrical connector of claim 12, wherein the first member is provided with a positioning groove extending along the insertion direction to an end surface of the first member away from the card slot, and the protrusion is provided on the second member and inserted into the positioning groove.

14. The electrical connector of claim 13, wherein the second member has a U-shaped cut-out thereon, and a portion surrounded by the U-shaped cut-out is pushed out to form the projection.

15. The electrical connector of claim 12, wherein the first member further comprises:

a first body having opposing first and second ends, the first end being closer to the slot of the card slot than the second end; and

a first contact arm having an inverted J-shape with an opening direction of the J-shape coinciding with the insertion direction, a long end of the first contact arm being connected to the first end of the first body, the first contact portion being disposed on a short end of the first contact arm, the first contact arm being located inside the first body with respect to the card slot.

16. The electrical connector of claim 15, wherein the second member is located inboard of the first member relative to the card slot, the second member comprising:

a second body on which the projection is disposed, the second body being engaged with the first body by the projection, the second body having opposed third and fourth ends, the third end being closer to the slot opening of the card slot than the fourth end; and

a second contact arm having a V-shape opened toward an outer side of the card slot such that an inflection point of the V-shape faces the card slot, one end of the second contact arm being connected to the third end of the second body, the second contact portion being located at the inflection point, the second contact arm being located at an inner side of the second body with respect to the card slot.

17. The electrical connector of claim 16, wherein the second member further comprises a connecting arm having a V-shape that opens toward an outside of the card slot, the second contact arm being connected to the third end of the second body through the connecting arm.

18. The electrical connector of claim 17, wherein the connecting arm is located outside of the second contact arm and inside of the second body relative to the card slot.

19. The electrical connector of claim 16, wherein the housing further has openings on both sides of the card slot, the first and second bodies of each contact being press-fit into the same opening.

20. The electrical connector of claim 19, wherein the second body is provided with a resilient tab projecting in an opposite direction to the projection, the resilient tab abutting against an inner sidewall of the opening.

21. The electrical connector of claim 20, wherein the resilient lugs are formed by forming a cut-out in the second body and pushing out a portion surrounded by the cut-out.

22. The electrical connector of claim 16, wherein the second member further comprises a mounting terminal portion extending from the fourth end portion of the second body along a transverse direction, the mounting terminal portion being located outside the housing, the transverse direction being perpendicular to the insertion direction and perpendicular to an extension direction of the card slot.

23. A method of manufacturing an electrical connector, comprising:

inserting a first member in each of a plurality of openings of a housing; and

inserting a second member within each of the plurality of openings to electrically and mechanically connect the first member with the second member.

Technical Field

The invention relates to an electric connector and a manufacturing method thereof.

Background

Card edge connectors (card edge connectors) are widely used as a transmission medium in electronic products such as computers, which can be used to connect electronic cards such as memory cards, video cards, sound cards, etc. to a circuit board, so that the electronic cards provide memory capacity for the electronic products and enhance the operation speed of the electronic products. With the advent of the information age, people have higher and higher requirements on the use frequency and functions of electronic products. New technology electronic cards and card edge connectors are better meeting the needs of people.

However, the storage line of products all have intermittent problems and are a common drawback across the industry. The main reason for this is that contaminants such as dust are often adhered to the conductive terminals of the memory cards. In order to solve this problem, the prior art proposes a scheme to reduce the probability of the intermittent problem occurring. In an electrical connector, there are two contact beams per contact and one contact point on each contact beam, unlike the conventional single contact beam and single contact point approach. When the electronic card is inserted into the connector, the first contact points first contact the electronic card for scraping and cleaning the memory card, and then the electronic card comes into contact with the second contact points, whereby stable and reliable electrical connection with the second contact points can be made.

Providing two contact beams for each contact makes the contact complicated in structure and difficult to mount in the housing, thereby resulting in an increase in manufacturing cost.

Disclosure of Invention

To at least partially solve the problems in the prior art, according to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided an electrical connector comprising: a housing having a card slot into which an electronic card is inserted and openings at both sides of the card slot; and a plurality of contacts, each contact including a plurality of individual members, each member having a beam shape with a contact portion, each contact being inserted into one opening, wherein the plurality of contact portions of each contact are aligned along an insertion direction of the electronic card.

Illustratively, an end of each member distal from the slot of the card slot is secured within the opening, and the contact portion of each member is disposed on the end of the member proximal to the slot of the card slot.

Illustratively, the housing has a mating face and a mounting face which are oppositely arranged along the insertion direction, the card slot is arranged at the mating face, each opening includes a first sub opening and a second sub opening which are communicated with each other, the first sub opening extends from the mounting face to an inner side wall of the card slot and is communicated with the card slot, the second sub opening is positioned at an outer side of the first sub opening relative to the card slot, a longitudinal dimension of the second sub opening is larger than that of the first sub opening, the second sub opening extends from the mounting face into the housing, and the card slot extends along the longitudinal direction.

Illustratively, the plurality of members of each contact include a body and a contact arm connected to each other, the body being closer to the mounting face than the contact arm, the contact being located on the contact arm, the body of each of the plurality of members having a longitudinal dimension greater than a longitudinal dimension of the respective contact arm, the body of the plurality of members of each contact being press-fit into the second sub-opening.

Illustratively, the body of at least one of the plurality of members of each contact has a resilient lug projecting therefrom in a direction perpendicular to the insertion direction, the resilient lug bearing against an inner side wall of the second sub-opening or an adjacent member.

Illustratively, the contact arms of the plurality of members of each contact are received within the first sub-opening.

Illustratively, the first sub opening communicates with the second sub opening along the insertion direction through a trapezoidal opening that is divergent along the insertion direction.

Each of the openings may further include a third sub-opening, the third sub-opening is communicated with the first sub-opening, the third sub-opening is located outside the first sub-opening relative to the card slot, the third sub-opening is closer to the abutting surface relative to the second sub-opening, and a longitudinal dimension of the third sub-opening is larger than a longitudinal dimension of the first sub-opening.

Illustratively, the first sub opening and the third sub opening extend to the abutment surface.

Illustratively, the plurality of members of each contact are aligned along the insertion direction, and members closer to the slot of the card slot are further to the outside relative to the card slot in a lateral direction that is perpendicular to the insertion direction and perpendicular to a longitudinal direction in which the card slot extends.

Illustratively, at least one of the plurality of members of each contact has a projection by which the member engages an adjacent member.

According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an electrical connector comprising: a housing having a card slot into which an electronic card is inserted; and a contact disposed in the housing, the contact including separate first and second members each having a beam shape, the first member or the second member having a protrusion provided thereon, the first member and the second member being engaged by the protrusion, wherein the first member has a first contact portion and the second member has a second contact portion, the first and second contact portions being aligned in an insertion direction of the electronic card.

Exemplarily, a positioning groove is arranged on the first component, the positioning groove extends to the end surface of the first component far away from the clamping groove along the insertion direction, the protrusion is arranged on the second component, and the protrusion is inserted into the positioning groove.

Illustratively, the second member has a U-shaped cut-out thereon, and a portion surrounded by the U-shaped cut-out is pushed out to form the projection.

Illustratively, the first member further comprises: a first body having opposing first and second ends, the first end being closer to the slot of the card slot than the second end; and a first contact arm having an inverted J-shape, an opening direction of the J-shape being identical to the insertion direction, a long end of the first contact arm being connected to the first end of the first body, the first contact portion being disposed on a short end of the first contact arm, the first contact arm being located inside the first body with respect to the card slot.

Illustratively, the second member is located inboard of the first member relative to the card slot, the second member comprising: a second body on which the projection is disposed, the second body being engaged with the first body by the projection, the second body having opposed third and fourth ends, the third end being closer to the slot opening of the card slot than the fourth end; and a second contact arm having a V shape opened toward an outer side of the card slot such that an inflection point of the V shape faces the card slot, one end of the second contact arm being connected to the third end of the second body, the second contact portion being located at the inflection point, the second contact arm being located at an inner side of the second body with respect to the card slot.

Illustratively, the second member further includes a connecting arm having a V-shape opened toward an outside of the card slot, and the second contact arm is connected to the third end portion of the second body through the connecting arm.

Illustratively, the connecting arm is located outside the second contact arm and inside the second body relative to the card slot.

Illustratively, the housing further has openings on both sides of the card slot, the first and second bodies of each contact being press-fit into the same opening.

Illustratively, the second body is provided with an elastic lug, the elastic lug and the protruding part protrude in opposite directions, and the elastic lug abuts against the inner side wall of the opening.

Illustratively, the elastic lug is formed by forming a cutout in the second body and pushing out a portion surrounded by the cutout.

Illustratively, the second member further includes a mounting terminal portion extending from the fourth end portion of the second body along a transverse direction, the mounting terminal portion being located outside the housing, the transverse direction being perpendicular to the insertion direction and perpendicular to an extending direction of the card slot.

According to yet another aspect of the present invention, there is also provided a method of manufacturing an electrical connector, comprising: inserting a first member in each of a plurality of openings of a housing; and inserting a second member within each of the plurality of openings to electrically and mechanically connect the first member with the second member.

Therefore, the electric connector is easy to assemble, and only a plurality of components contained in the contact corresponding to each opening are required to be inserted into each opening on the shell, so that the cost can be reduced. The plurality of members are held on the housing through the corresponding openings, and the members can be reliably fixed on the housing without additional fixing members, whereby the electrical connector has a simple structure. In addition, each contact is made into a plurality of independent components, so that the structure of each component is simple, the processing difficulty of the contact is reduced, and the cost is further reduced.

Detailed Description

In the following description, numerous details are provided to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. One skilled in the art, however, will understand that the following description merely illustrates a preferred embodiment of the invention and that the invention may be practiced without one or more of these details. In other instances, well known features have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the invention.

As shown in fig. 1A-1B and 2-3, an electrical connector 10 provided in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention includes a housing 20 and contacts 30Y1 and 30Y 2. An electronic card (not shown), such as DDR5, may be plugged onto the electrical connector 10, with the electrical connector 10 mounted to a circuit board (not shown). Contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 electrically connect the electronic card to the circuit board. In fig. 1A-1B and the following views, X1-X2 represents the longitudinal direction (i.e., length direction) of the electrical connector 10; Y1-Y2 represent the lateral direction (i.e., width direction) of the electrical connector 10; Z1-Z2 indicate the vertical direction (i.e., height direction) of the electrical connector 10.

The housing 20 is made of an insulating material and has an elongated strip shape extending in the longitudinal direction X1-X2. Hooks 40X1 and 40X2 are provided at both ends of the housing 20 in the longitudinal direction. The housing 20 may have a mating face 21 and a mounting face 22. The mating face 21 and the mounting face 22 are oppositely disposed along the lateral direction Y1-Y2. The interface 21 faces the electronic card. The mounting face 22 faces the circuit board. The abutment surface 21 has a catch groove 23 extending in the longitudinal direction X1-X2. A card slot 23 is recessed inwardly from the mating face 21 for receiving an electronic card. The electronic card is inserted into the card slot 23 along an insertion direction Z1. The slot 23 is generally elongate and bar-shaped, as shown in fig. 1. The electronic card may include any one of a video card, a memory card, a sound card, and the like.

The housing 20 also has openings 24Y1 and 24Y 2. The openings 24Y1 and 24Y2 are slit-shaped. The openings 24Y1 are located on one side of the card slot 23 at substantially equal intervals along the transverse direction Y1-Y2. The openings 24Y2 are located on the other side of the card slot 23 at substantially equal intervals along the transverse direction Y1-Y2. The openings 24Y1 and 24Y2 extend in the vertical direction to the mounting surface 22 of the housing 20, and the openings 24Y1 and 24Y2 each communicate with the inner side wall of the card slot 23.

As shown in fig. 2-3, the contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 are inserted into the openings 24Y1 and 24Y2, respectively. The contacts 30Y1 are arranged in a row on the housing 20 along the longitudinal direction X1-X2; the contacts 30Y2 are arranged in another row on the housing 20 along the longitudinal direction X1-X2. The two rows of contacts are located on either side of the card slot 23 along the transverse directions Y1-Y2, respectively. The two rows of contacts are symmetrically arranged about the card slot 23. The card slot 23 exposes a portion of the contacts 30Y1 and 30Y 2. This exposed portion of the contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 may be electrically connected to conductive contacts of an electronic card with the electronic card inserted into the card slot 23. The contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 also extend to the mounting face 22. In the case where the housing 20 is mounted to the circuit board, the contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 may be electrically connected with the circuit in the circuit board. The conductive contacts of the electronic card are thereby electrically connected to the circuitry on the circuit board.

As shown in fig. 2-3, each contact 30Y1 or 30Y2 includes a plurality of individual members. For example, the contact 30Y1 includes a first member 31Y1 and a second member 32Y 1. The first member 31Y1 has a beam shape having the first contact portion 311Y 1. The second member 32Y1 has a beam shape having a second contact portion 321Y 1. The contact 30Y2 includes a first member 31Y2 and a second member 32Y 2. The first member 31Y2 has a beam shape having the first contact portion 311Y 2. The second member 32Y2 has a beam shape having a second contact portion 321Y 2. The plurality of members of each contact are inserted into one of the openings. The first member 31Y1 and the second member 32Y1 are inserted into the opening 24Y 1. The first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 are inserted into the opening 24Y 2. The plurality of contact portions of each contact are aligned along the insertion direction Z1 of the electronic card. The first contact portion 311Y1 and the second contact portion 321Y1 of the contact 30Y1 are aligned along the insertion direction Z1. The first contact portion 311Y2 and the second contact portion 321Y2 of the contact 30Y2 are aligned along the insertion direction Z1. In the illustrated embodiment, the first contacts 311Y1 and 311Y2 are closer to the notches of the card slot 23 than the second contacts 321Y1 and 321Y 2. The first contacts 311Y1 and 311Y2 will first contact the electronic card inserted into the card slot 23 for scraping and cleaning contaminants on the electronic card. The second contacts 321Y1 and 321Y2 make reliable electrical connection with the electronic card.

During assembly, a respective first member 31Y1 or 31Y2 may be inserted within each of the plurality of openings 24Y1 and 24Y2 of the housing 20. Then, inserting a corresponding second member 32Y1 or 32Y2 into each opening to electrically and mechanically connect the first member 31Y1 and the second member 32Y1 within each opening 24Y 1; the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 within each opening 24Y2 are electrically and mechanically connected.

Alternatively, the contact may also comprise more members, e.g. three, four, etc., which the skilled person may determine, e.g. according to the required number of contacts or other needs. When the contact comprises more than two members, it is only necessary to insert the members one by one in each opening during assembly.

It can be seen that the electrical connector 10 is easy to assemble, and requires only a plurality of components contained in the contacts corresponding to each opening in the housing 20 to be inserted into the opening, thereby reducing the cost. The plurality of components are held on the housing 20 through the corresponding openings, and the components can be reliably fixed on the housing 20 without additional fixing parts, whereby the electrical connector 10 has a simple structure. In addition, each contact is made into a plurality of independent components, so that the structure of each component is simple, the processing difficulty of the contact is reduced, and the cost is further reduced.

The contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 have a symmetrical structure with respect to the card slot 23. Correspondingly, the openings 24Y1 and 24Y2 also have a symmetrical structure with respect to the card slot 23. Therefore, in the following description, only the contacts and openings of one side will be described. It should be noted that the positions of the contacts 30Y1 and 30Y2 may be aligned with each other or may be offset from each other along the longitudinal direction X1-X2.

The end of each member distal from the slot of the catch 23 is secured within the corresponding opening. Taking the contact 30Y2 as an example, the ends of the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 that are away from the notches of the card slot 23 (i.e., the lower ends shown in the figures that are near the mounting surface 22) are secured within the openings 24Y 2. The ends of the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 near the notches of the card slot 23 (i.e., the upper ends near the abutment surfaces 21 as shown in the drawings) are movable or deformable to some extent relative to the opening 24Y 2. The first contact portion 311Y2 is located on the upper end portion of the first member 31Y 2. The second contact portion 321Y2 is located on the upper end portion of the second member 32Y 2. Thus, when the electronic card is inserted into the card slot 23, the electronic card can press the first contact portion 311Y2 of the first member 31Y2 and the second contact portion 321Y2 of the second member 32Y2, so that the electronic card can be cleaned effectively and reliably and electrically connected with the electronic card. In addition, the electronic card can be firmly held in the card slot 23 by the acting force applied to the electronic card by the upper end portions of the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2, and the electronic card and the electrical connector form reliable mechanical connection and electrical connection.

Each opening includes a first sub-opening and a second sub-opening communicating with each other. As shown in fig. 5-6, taking opening 24Y2 as an example, it includes a first sub-opening 241 and a second sub-opening 242. The first sub-opening 241 extends from the mounting face 22 to an inner side wall of the card slot 23 and communicates with the card slot 23. The second sub opening 242 is located outside the first sub opening 241 with respect to the card slot 23. The longitudinal dimension of the second sub opening 242 is greater than the longitudinal dimension of the first sub opening 241. Longitudinal dimension refers to the dimension along the longitudinal direction X1-X2. The second sub-opening 242 extends from the mounting surface 22 into the housing 20. The vertical dimension of the second sub-opening 242 may be less than half of the vertical dimension of the first sub-opening 241 along the vertical direction Z1-Z2.

Referring to fig. 3 and 9 in combination, the first member 31Y2 of the contact 30Y2 may include a first body 312 and a first contact arm 313. The first body 312 and the first contact arm 313 are connected to each other. The first contact arm 313 is closer to the notch of the card slot 23 than the first body 312, i.e., the first body 312 is closer to the mounting surface 22. The first body 312 has opposite first and second ends 312A and 312B. The first end 312A is closer to the notch of the card slot 23 than the second end 312B. The first contact arm 313 is connected to a first end 312A of the first body 312. The first contact portion 311Y2 is located on the first contact arm 313. The longitudinal dimension of the first body 312 is greater than the longitudinal dimension of the first contact arm 313. The first body 312 and the first contact arm 313 may be connected by a first transition portion 314 to provide a smooth transition in the longitudinal dimension of the first member 31Y2 from the first body 312 to the first contact arm 313. Alternatively, the first body 312 and the first contact arm 313 may also be directly connected, thereby forming a distinct right angle between the first body 312 and the first contact arm 313. The second sub-opening 242 corresponds to the longitudinal dimension of the first body 312, and the first body 312 is press-fit into the second sub-opening 242, see fig. 3, 5, and 9 in combination. Thereby, the first member 31Y2 can be fixed through the second sub opening 242.

As shown in fig. 9, the first contact arm 313 may have an inverted J-shape. The opening direction of the J coincides with the insertion direction Z1. The first contact arm 313 has a long end 313A and a short end 313B. The long end 313A of the first contact arm 313 is connected to the first end 312A of the first body 312. The first contact portion 311Y2 is provided on the short end 313B of the first contact arm 313. The first contact arm 313 is located inside the first body 312 with respect to the card slot 23. The first contact arm 313 is received within the first sub opening 241. The first contact arm 313 may move or deform within the first sub opening 241.

The plurality of members of each contact are arranged along the insertion direction Z1, and the members closer to the notch of the card slot 23 are more outside with respect to the card slot 23 in the lateral direction. In the illustrated embodiment, the second member 32Y2 is located inboard of the first member 31Y2 relative to the card slot 23, with continued reference to fig. 3 and 9. The first member 31Y2 substantially semi-surrounds the second member 32Y 2. The second member 32Y2 of the contact 30Y2 may include a second body 322 and a second contact arm 323. The second body 322 and the second contact arm 323 are connected to each other. The second contact arm 323 is closer to the notch of the card slot 23 than the second body 322, i.e., the second body 322 is closer to the mounting surface 22. The second body 322 has opposing third and fourth ends 322A, 322B. The third end 322A is closer to the notch of the card slot 23 than the fourth end 322B. The second contact arm 323 is connected to the third end portion 322A of the second body 322. The second contact portion 321Y2 is located on the second contact arm 323. The longitudinal dimension of the second body 322 is greater than the longitudinal dimension of the second contact arm 323.

The second body 322 and the second contact arm 323 may be connected by an intermediate portion. Illustratively, a second transition 324 may be provided between the second body 322 and the second contact arm 323 to provide a smooth transition in the longitudinal dimension of the second member 32Y2 from the second body 322 to the second contact arm 323. Alternatively, the second body 322 and the second contact arm 323 may also be directly connected, thereby forming a distinct right angle between the second body 322 and the second contact arm 323. The second sub-opening 242 corresponds to a longitudinal dimension of the second body 322, and the second body 322 is press-fit into the second sub-opening 242, see fig. 3, 5, and 9 in combination. Thus, the second member 32Y2 can also be fixed through the second sub opening 242.

With continued reference to fig. 3 and 9, the second contact arm 323 may be V-shaped opening toward the outside of the card slot 23 such that the inflection point of the V-shape faces the card slot 23. The second contact portion 321Y2 is provided at the inflection point. One end of the second contact arm 323 is connected to the third end portion 322A of the second body 322. The second contact arm 323 is located inside the second body 322 with respect to the card slot 23. The second contact arm 323 is received within the first sub-opening 241. The second contact arm 323 can move or deform within the first sub opening 241.

The sum of the lateral dimensions of the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 corresponds to the lateral dimension of the second sub opening 242 along the lateral directions Y1-Y2. Thereby, the first body 312 of the first member 31Y2 and the second body 322 of the second member 32Y2 may be stably fixed on the case 20 through the second sub opening 242. In addition, the widened first and second bodies 312, 322 facilitate a tight fit within the second sub-opening 242 when the first and second bodies 312, 322 are stacked together along the transverse direction Y1-Y2.

In the assembling process, the first member 31Y2 may be inserted from the lower opening 24Y 2. When inserted, the first contact arm 313 is aligned with the first sub-opening 241 and the first body 312 is aligned with the second sub-opening 242. The longitudinal dimension of the first body 312 is greater than the longitudinal dimension of the first sub opening 241, and therefore, the first body 312 is restricted to be insertable only from the second sub opening 242, and the first contact arm 313 is insertable only from the first sub opening 241. Thereby, the first member 31Y2 may be inserted into the opening 24Y2 along the direction Z2. Then, the second member 32Y2 is inserted from below into the opening 24Y 2. When inserted, the second contact arm 323 aligns with the first sub-opening 241, the second body 322 aligns with the second sub-opening 242, and the second member 32Y2 is located inside the first member 31Y 2. The longitudinal dimension of the second body 322 is greater than the longitudinal dimension of the first sub opening 241, and thus, the second body 322 is restricted to be insertable only from the second sub opening 242, and the second contact arm 323 is insertable only from the first sub opening 241. Thus, the second member 32Y2 may be inserted into the opening 24Y2 along direction Z2. At this point, the assembly of the contact 30Y2 is completed.

Alternatively, the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 may be inserted into the opening 24Y2 together after they are abutted against each other. However, the requirement for the jig is high, it is necessary to be able to clamp the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2, and to keep the positional relationship between the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 constant during insertion into the opening 24Y 2. The assembly method of inserting the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 one by one requires only the clip to be pressed against the inner side of the first body 312 of the first member 31Y2 and the outer side of the first body 312 to abut against the second sub-opening 242 to complete the assembly of the first member 31Y2 when the first member 31Y2 is installed. In mounting the second member 32Y2, similarly, the assembly of the second member 32Y2 can be completed with the clip simply pressed against the inside of the second body 322 of the second member 32Y2, with the outside of the second body 322 abutting against the inside of the first body 312 of the first member 31Y 2. Therefore, the requirements on the clamp can be reduced, the assembly process is simplified, and the processing cost is reduced.

The members of each contact may be fixed to each other in addition to being fixed by means of the second sub-opening 242. In a preferred embodiment, at least one of the plurality of members has a projection by which the member can engage with an adjacent member. For example, a protrusion may be provided on one of the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2, and a positioning groove fitted with the protrusion may be provided on the other. The projection may protrude into the positioning groove, thereby maintaining the positional relationship between the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 to some extent. However, when the contact 30Y2 is assembled by inserting the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 one by one, the projection needs to be provided on the member inserted later.

In the illustrated embodiment, as shown in fig. 6-9, the second body 322 is preferably provided with a projection 325 thereon. The second body 322 is engaged with the first body 312 by the protrusion 325. The first member 31Y2 is provided with a positioning groove 315. The positioning groove 315 extends to an end surface of the first member 31Y2 away from the card slot 23 in the insertion direction Z1. That is, the positioning groove 315 penetrates the second end 312B of the second body 322 along the insertion direction Z1. After the first member 31Y2 is assembled, when the second member 32Y2 is assembled, the projection 325 of the second member 32Y2 is aligned with the positioning groove 315, and the projection 325 is inserted into the positioning groove 315 while the second member 32Y2 is inserted into the opening 24Y 2. Thereby, the first member 31Y2 and the second member 32Y2 can be more reliably fixed within the opening 24Y 2.

The protrusion 325 may be formed on the second member 32Y2 in any suitable manner. Typically, the second member 32Y2 is a sheet metal part. In this case, it is preferable that a U-shaped cut is formed on the second member 32Y2 and a portion surrounded by the U-shaped cut is pushed out to form the protruding portion 325, whereby the manufacturing process can be simplified and the cost can be reduced.

In view of the presence of manufacturing tolerances, the body of at least one of the plurality of members of each contact may preferably have a resilient lug. The resilient lugs may project from the body in a direction perpendicular to the insertion direction, for example in the directions Y1, Y2, X1 and/or X2, etc. The elastic lug can be pressed against the inner side wall of the second sub-opening or an adjacent component along the protruding direction of the elastic lug. Therefore, the problem that the main body of the component cannot be in press fit with the second sub-opening due to large manufacturing tolerance can be avoided, and further the assembly is not firm is avoided.

In the illustrated embodiment, the resilient lug 326 may be disposed on the second body 322. The elastic lug 326 protrudes in the opposite direction to the protrusion 325. The elastic lug 326 abuts against the inner sidewall of the opening, specifically, the inner sidewall of the second sub-opening 242. In the case where the second member 32Y2 is a sheet metal member, the elastic lug 326 may be formed by forming a cutout in the second body 322 and pushing out a portion surrounded by the cutout.

As previously described, first member 31Y2 may include first transition 314 and second member 32Y2 may include second transition 324 such that there is no abrupt right angle in first member 31Y2 and second member 32Y 2. In this case, the first sub opening 241 communicates with the second sub opening 242 through the trapezoidal opening 243 in the insertion direction Z1, as shown in fig. 4 to 5. The trapezoidal opening 243 is flared along the insertion direction Z1. Thus, when the first and second members 31Y2 and 32Y2 are installed within the opening 24Y2, both sides of the first and second transitions 314 and 324 may abut the sidewalls of the trapezoidal opening 243. The two sides of the first and second transitions 314, 324 are opposite along the longitudinal direction X1-X1.

In addition, each opening 24Y2 may also include a third sub-opening 245, as shown in fig. 4-5. The third sub opening 245 communicates with the first sub opening 241, and the third sub opening 245 is located outside the first sub opening 241 with respect to the card slot 23. The third sub opening 245 is closer to the abutting face 21 than the second sub opening 242. The longitudinal dimension of the third sub-opening 245 is greater than the longitudinal dimension of the first sub-opening 241. Therefore, the manufacturing of the die is facilitated, and the mechanical strength of the die is increased. Of course, alternatively, the third sub-opening 245 may have the same longitudinal dimension as the first sub-opening 241, but the mechanical strength of the mold may be slightly weaker.

Preferably, the first sub opening 241 and the third sub opening 245 extend to the abutting face 21. Thus, the mating face 21 may expose the corresponding contacts through the openings. Thus, on one hand, the mold is opened to manufacture the shell 20, and on the other hand, the heat dissipation can be carried out on the contact.

Referring back to fig. 6-9, the second member 32Y2 may also include a connecting arm 327. The connecting arm 327 has a V-shape that opens toward the outside of the card slot 23. The second contact arm 323 is connected to the third end portion 322A of the second body 322 by a connection arm 327. The connecting arm 327 is located outside the second contact arm 323 and inside the second body 322 with respect to the card slot 23. Thereby, four inflection points P1, P2, P3 and P4 may be formed on the second member 32Y2, see fig. 8. The inflection point P1 is located on the first contact arm 313, the inflection point P2 is located between the first contact arm 313 and the connecting arm 327, the inflection point P3 is located on the connecting arm 327, and the inflection point P4 is located between the connecting arm 327 and the second body 322. The connecting arms 327 can increase the mechanical strength of the second member 32Y2, and increase the deformation amount of the second contact arms 323 relative to the second body 322, so that the second contact arms 323 can move outward with sufficient capacity and space when the electronic card is inserted into the card slot 23, thereby increasing the reliability of the electrical connection between the second member 32Y2 and the electronic card. In addition, the connecting arm 327 can increase the length of the arm, when the electronic card is inserted into the card slot 23, the second contact arm 323 is pressed, and the connecting arm 327 can enhance the elasticity of the second member 32Y2, thereby reducing the deformation of the second member 32Y2 and improving the reliability of the electrical contact.

Further, the second member 32Y2 further includes a mounting terminal portion 328. The mounting terminal portions 328 extend in the lateral direction from the fourth end portion 322B of the second body 322. The mounting terminal portions 328 are located outside the housing 20, see fig. 3 and 9 in combination. When the electrical connector 10 is mounted on a circuit board, the electrical connector 10 can be electrically connected to the circuit board through the mounting terminal portions 328. The mounting terminal portions 328 may be soldered to corresponding pads on the circuit board.

In the description of the present invention, it is to be understood that the directions or positional relationships indicated by the directional terms such as "front", "rear", "upper", "lower", "left", "right", "lateral", "vertical", "horizontal" and "top", "bottom", etc., are generally based on the directions or positional relationships shown in the drawings, and are only for convenience of describing the present invention and simplifying the description, and in the case of not making a reverse explanation, these directional terms do not indicate and imply that the device or element referred to must have a specific orientation or be constructed and operated in a specific orientation, and therefore, should not be construed as limiting the scope of the present invention; the terms "inner" and "outer" refer to the interior and exterior relative to the contours of the components themselves.

Spatially relative terms, such as "above … …," "above … …," "above … …," "above," and the like, may be used herein for ease of description to describe the spatial relationship of one or more components or features shown in the figures to other components or features. It is to be understood that the spatially relative terms are intended to encompass not only the orientation of the component as depicted in the figures, but also different orientations of the component in use or operation. For example, if an element in the drawings is turned over in its entirety, the articles "over" or "on" other elements or features will include the articles "under" or "beneath" the other elements or features. Thus, the exemplary term "above … …" can include both an orientation of "above … …" and "below … …".
