7. Method according to one of the preceding claims, wherein grid points (23) are represented by unfilled grid symbols, in particular having the shape of a diamond.

An apparatus for carrying out the method according to one of the preceding claims, having a display unit (20) with which virtual auxiliary information can be visualized in the field of view of a driver or of an operator of an object, and having a calculation unit (40), wherein the calculation unit is designed to calculate the distance of an observer vehicle from a waypoint, characterized in that the vehicle (10) has a detection device (110, 150) which detects the position of the waypoint along the front of a navigation route, so that upon approaching the waypoint the calculation unit (40) calculates an animated figure which leads at least to the waypoint along the navigation route, wherein the animated figure has a grid shape consisting of a multiplicity of grid points (22) and the calculation unit (40) calculates the animated figure, such that the animated graphic has a plurality of distance markers (24) from the observer vehicle (10) to the waypoint.

9. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein the calculation unit (40) is further designed for carrying out the calculation according to the method of any one of the preceding claims 2 to 7.

10. The device according to claim 8 or 9, wherein the display unit (20) is a Heads Up Display (HUD) or data glasses.

11. A motor vehicle, characterized in that the motor vehicle (10) has an apparatus according to any one of claims 8 to 10.
