An automatic lawn mower, the lawn mower comprising:

the device comprises a machine body, a control device and a control device, wherein the machine body is provided with a shell and a running mechanism for driving the machine body to move;

the main mowing unit is positioned below the shell and is provided with a first cutting area;

a trimming unit located outside the main mowing unit and having a second cutting area different from the first cutting area, a side of the second cutting area away from the first cutting area being at least flush with and/or partially beyond an outer side of the housing;

a protective cover configured to cover at least a portion of the trimmer unit that is outside of the housing and/or flush with an outer side of the housing when the trimmer unit is in an operational state.

A lawnmower as claimed in claim 1, wherein the trimmer unit is capable of switching between the operative and inoperative states either automatically or by manual operation.

The mower according to claim 2, further comprising a detection unit and a control unit, wherein the control unit is electrically connected with the detection unit and the trimming unit, and the control unit automatically controls the trimming unit to automatically switch between an operating state and a non-operating state according to a detection signal of the detection unit.

The mower according to claim 2, further comprising a control unit, an operating unit provided on said housing, said control unit being electrically connected to said operating unit; when the operation unit receives a preset signal, the control unit controls the trimming unit to switch between a working state and a non-working state.

The lawnmower according to claim 2, further comprising a control unit, a wireless signal receiving unit; the wireless signal receiving unit is used for receiving a preset signal transmitted from a user terminal; the control unit is electrically connected with the signal receiving unit; when the signal receiving unit receives the preset signal, the control unit controls the trimming unit to switch between a working state and a non-working state.

A lawnmower according to claim 4 or claim 5, wherein the preset signal is generated by manual operation.

The mower of claim 2 wherein said protective cover is configured to at least partially expose said trimmer unit when said trimmer unit is in an inoperative condition.

The lawnmower of claim 1, wherein the protective cover comprises:

a movable hood configured to be switchable between an open state and a closed state, and to cover at least a portion of the trimmer unit located outside the housing and/or a portion flush with an outer side surface of the housing when the movable hood is in the closed state.

The mower of claim 8 wherein the movable guard is configured to move rotationally or up and down along the axis of the trimmer unit to switch between an open state and a closed state.

The lawnmower of claim 9, wherein the trimmer unit comprises a grass cutting portion and a drive mechanism for driving the grass cutting portion to rotate.

The lawnmower of claim 10, wherein the movable guard is configured to rotate about a drive shaft of the drive mechanism to switch between the open state and the closed state.

The lawnmower of claim 11, further comprising a gear train coupled to the drive shaft of the drive mechanism, wherein the movable guard is coupled to the gear train, and wherein the drive mechanism drives the drive shaft to rotate, thereby rotating the gear train and the movable guard.

The mower of claim 10, wherein the movable guard is disposed on the mower section by a threaded connection and is configured to be helically rotatable about the mower section to switch between the open state and the closed state.

The mower of claim 9, further comprising a lifting mechanism disposed on the housing, wherein the lifting mechanism comprises a lifting motor and a transmission mechanism, and the lifting motor drives the transmission mechanism to move the movable guard up and down so as to switch between the open state and the closed state.

The mower of claim 14 wherein the transmission mechanism is a linkage mechanism.

The mower of claim 8 wherein the front end of the movable guard is configured in a comb-like configuration.

The lawnmower of claim 8, wherein the protective cover further comprises:

a fixed shroud configured to collectively cover the trimmer unit when the movable shroud is in a closed state.

The mower of claim 17 wherein the fixed guard is located inside the housing.

The mower of claim 17, wherein the fixed guard is at least partially located outside of the housing.

The mower of claim 1 wherein the trimmer unit is disposed on a front, left or right side of the main mower unit.

The lawnmower of claim 1, wherein the trimmer unit is operatively located outside of the housing.

The lawnmower of claim 21, wherein the trimmer unit is disposed outside the housing via a linkage, and the protective cover is coupled to the housing via a linkage configured to rotate in a vertical direction to move the protective cover in the vertical direction to cover the trimmer unit when the trimmer unit is in the operating state.

The lawnmower of claim 21, wherein the trimmer unit is disposed outside of the housing by a mounting shaft, and the mounting shaft is configured in a telescoping configuration, the trimmer unit being retracted inside the housing when in the retracted state; the trimmer unit extends outside the housing when the mounting shaft is in the extended state.

The mower of claim 1 wherein said trimmer unit is at least partially positioned inside said housing when in operation.

The lawnmower according to claim 1, wherein the trimmer unit includes a grass cutting portion including a grass cutting element and a housing for housing and fixing the grass cutting element, and a drive mechanism that drives the grass cutting portion to rotate, the housing being provided on a drive shaft of the drive mechanism.

The lawnmower of claim 25, wherein the drive mechanism and the receptacle are at least partially inside the housing.

The mower of claim 25 wherein the mowing element comprises a cord or a blade made of a non-cutting edge metallic or flexible material.

The lawnmower of claim 1, wherein the guard is of a cylindrical or semi-cylindrical configuration.

A method of controlling mowing of the robotic lawnmower of claim 1, comprising:

switching the mower to a state of trimming the lawn edge;

when the edge-trimming unit is in the working state, the control protective cover covers at least the part of the edge-trimming unit, which is positioned at the outer side of the shell and/or the part which is flush with the outer side surface of the shell.
