1. A method for operating a pasteurization device (1) comprising a first operating condition, wherein

In which first operating condition the sealed containers (2) filled with food product are conveyed through a treatment zone (3) comprising at least one heating zone (6, 7),

heating and pasteurizing the food product in the at least one heating zone (6, 7) by dispensing a temperature-controlled processing liquid onto the container (2),

wherein at least a major part of the processing liquid from the treatment zone (3) is returned to the treatment zone (3) in a closed loop (14) for reuse,

characterized in that at least one treatment chemical for container treatment is introduced into the treatment zone (3) in the gaseous or atomized state by means of a feed device (21) under any operating conditions of the pasteurization device (1), on an as-needed basis.

2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical is introduced into the treatment zone (3) by means of a carrier gas flow.

3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical is gasified before being introduced into the treatment zone (3).

4. A method according to claim 3, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical is evaporated into a carrier gas before being introduced into the treatment region (3) and subsequently introduced into the treatment region (3) by means of the carrier gas.

5. A method according to claim 3, characterized in that the gasification is carried out or supported by means of a heating device (33).

6. Method according to claim 3 or 5, characterized in that the gasification is carried out or supported by means of applying a vacuum.

7. Method according to claim 1, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical is atomized into the treatment zone (3) or atomized by means of an atomizing device (46) before being introduced into the treatment zone (3).

8. The method according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the amount of the at least one treatment chemical introduced into the treatment zone (3) is controlled by means of at least one metering device (34).

9. The method according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical is introduced into the treatment zone (3) during second operating conditions, wherein in the second operating conditions the delivery of the container (2) and the temperature-controlled liquid dispensing onto the container (2) is stopped or has been stopped.

10. Method according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in said first operating condition a sealed container (2) is conveyed through said treatment zone (3), said sealed container (2) comprising a metallic material on the outside of said container (2).

11. Method according to claim 10, characterized in that the containers (2) containing aluminium on the outside are conveyed through the treatment zone (3).

12. The method according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical introduced into the treatment zone (3) comprises a volatile carboxylic acid.

13. The method according to claim 12, characterized in that the at least one treatment chemical introduced into the treatment zone (3) comprises formic acid or acetic acid.

14. Method according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least in the first operating condition a partial quantity of the process liquid per time unit is continuously withdrawn from the closed loop (14) and purified by means of a membrane filtration device (50) and subsequently by means of an ion exchange device (51) and/or by means of an adsorption device (52), and the purified process liquid is returned into the treatment zone (3).

15. Pasteurisation apparatus (1) for pasteurising food in sealed containers (2), comprising:

a treatment zone (3) configured for treating the food product in the container (2) with at least one heating zone (6, 7) temperature,

a conveying system (10) for conveying the sealed containers (2) filled with food products through the treatment zone (3),

a rinsing device (12) configured for dispensing a temperature-controlled processing liquid into the at least one heating zone (6, 7),

a closed loop (14) configured for returning process liquid from the treatment zone (3) into the treatment zone (3) for reuse,

characterized in that the pasteurization device (1) comprises at least one feed device (21) configured for introducing at least one treatment chemical for container treatment in the gaseous or atomized state into the treatment zone (3).

16. Pasteurisation apparatus according to claim 15, characterised in that said feeding means (21) comprises a device (26) for generating a flow of carrier gas, and in that said feeding means (21) is configured for conveying said at least one treatment chemical into said treatment zone (3) by means of said flow of carrier gas.

17. Pasteurisation apparatus according to claim 16, characterised in that said feeding means (21) is configured for guiding said carrier gas through an evaporation space (30) containing said at least one treatment chemical, and subsequently into said treatment zone (3).

18. Pasteurization device according to any one of claims 15-17, characterized in that the feed device (21) comprises a heating device (33) which is configured for vaporizing the at least one treatment chemical or for supporting the vaporization of the treatment chemical.

19. Pasteurization device according to any one of claims 15-18, characterized in that the feed device (21) comprises a vacuum device (38) which is configured for vaporizing the at least one treatment chemical or for supporting the vaporization of the at least one treatment chemical.

20. Pasteurisation apparatus according to claim 15, characterised in that said feeding means comprises at least one atomising device (39) configured for atomising said at least one treatment chemical into said treatment zone (3).

21. Pasteurisation apparatus according to claim 15, characterised in that said feeding means (21) comprises atomising means (46) configured for atomising said at least one treatment chemical before being introduced into said treatment zone (3).

22. Pasteurization device according to any one of claims 15-21, characterized in that the feed device (21) comprises at least one metering device (34) which is configured for controlling the amount of treatment chemical introduced into the treatment zone (3).

23. Pasteurization device according to any one of claims 15-22, characterized in that the feed device (21) comprises feed openings (23) which are arranged at the different temperature treatment zones (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) of the treatment zone (3) or in the different temperature treatment zones (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) of the treatment zone (3).

24. Pasteurisation apparatus according to claim 23, characterised in that at least one closing means (25) is associated with a feed opening (23), or with a group of feed openings (23).

25. Pasteurization device according to any one of claims 15-24, characterized in that the pasteurization device comprises at least one removal device (47) configured for removing a portion of the quantity of process liquid from the closed-loop circuit (14) per time unit; and a purification device (49) comprising a membrane filtration device (50) and an ion exchange device (51) and/or an adsorption device (52) downstream of the membrane filtration device (50), the purification device (49) being configured for cleaning the removed portion quantity of process liquid; and at least one return device (53) configured for returning purified process liquid into the treatment zone (3).

The embodiments shown in the examples represent possible variants and it should be noted that at this stage the invention is not specifically limited to the specifically shown variants and that instead the individual variants can be used in different combinations from one another and these possible variants are within the ability of the person skilled in the art in view of the technical teaching disclosed.
