Technical Field

The present invention relates to compositions and methods for inhibiting digestive tract symptoms. More particularly, the present invention relates to compositions and methods for inhibiting digestive tract symptoms caused by ingestion of medium chain fatty acid containing fats and oils.

Background

Ketone bodies are a general term for acetoacetic acid, β -hydroxybutyric acid, and acetone, and are synthesized in vivo by β oxidation of fatty acids in the liver. The produced ketone bodies are used as energy in a large amount of tissues other than the liver, such as the brain, heart, and skeletal muscle, as well as glucose. In particular, only glucose and ketone bodies are utilized in the brain, and ketone bodies are important energy sources (non-patent document 1).

Fatty acid radicals, which are main raw materials for forming ketone bodies in vivo, are classified into long-chain fatty acids, medium-chain fatty acids, and short-chain fatty acids according to the length of a carbon chain. Medium chain fatty acids are thought to produce ketone bodies more efficiently than long chain fatty acids due to different absorption and metabolic pathways. In addition, it is known that, in humans and animals, the blood ketone body concentration of a person who ingests fat containing a medium-chain fatty acid is higher than that of fat containing a long-chain fatty acid (non-patent document 2).

However, it is known that when a fat or oil containing a medium-chain fatty acid is ingested, discomfort can be felt in the digestive tract including the stomach.

Detailed Description

[ composition for suppressing digestive tract symptoms ]

The composition of the present invention is a composition for inhibiting digestive tract symptoms caused by ingestion of fat or oil containing medium-chain fatty acids, comprising: fats and oils containing medium-chain fatty acids and fats and oils containing long-chain fatty acids.

The composition of the present invention can suppress various symptoms of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, intestine) caused by the intake of fat and oil containing medium-chain fatty acids. The digestive tract symptoms are not limited to the following symptoms, but examples thereof include irritation, pain, burning sensation, nausea, satiety, eructation, retching, discomfort, and discomfort. According to the composition of the present invention, these symptoms of the digestive tract can be suppressed.

In one embodiment of the invention, the digestive tract is especially the upper digestive tract (esophagus, stomach, duodenum). Therefore, according to one embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to suppress various symptoms of at least one of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum caused by ingestion of fat and oil containing medium-chain fatty acids.

As a food designed to produce ketone bodies in a large amount in the body, a high-lipid low-carbohydrate diet (ketogenic diet) has been known for a long time. By ingesting a ketogenic diet, the blood ketone body concentration is increased. It is known that ketogenic diet is useful for the treatment of GLUT1 deficiency and for the inhibition of the onset of refractory epilepsy (tai jing hei, "ケ ト ン peripheral height, 30990, か ら embodiment, ま で", i zhi と therapeutic community, 2011 3 months). Furthermore, it has recently been reported that it is also useful for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (Maciej Gasior et al 3, "neuroprotection and disease-modifying effects of the ketogenic diet", Behav Pharmacol., 9.2006, 17(5-6), p.431-439). Therefore, when a large amount of fat or oil containing medium-chain fatty acids is ingested for the purpose of preventing the above-mentioned diseases or alleviating the symptoms, the composition of the present invention and the method of the present invention described below can suppress digestive tract symptoms and can improve QOL (quality of life).

In the present invention, Medium Chain fatty acid-containing fat refers to fat in which the constituent fatty acids in the fat are Medium Chain in length, and is also referred to as MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride), MCT typically refers to fat composed of fatty acids having 6 ~ 12 carbon atoms, preferably 8 ~ 12 carbon atoms, more preferably 8 ~ 10 carbon atoms.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the fat or oil containing a medium-chain fatty acid is, for example, a fat or oil containing at least one of caprylic acid and capric acid, and preferably a fat or oil containing caprylic acid and capric acid.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the medium-chain fatty acid-containing fat is preferably a fat containing caprylic acid and capric acid at a mass ratio in the range of 50 ~ 100:50 ~ 0, more preferably a fat containing caprylic acid and capric acid at a mass ratio in the range of 70 ~ 90:30 ~ 10, and particularly preferably a fat containing caprylic acid and capric acid at a mass ratio of 75: 25.

In the present invention, the fat or oil containing a Long-Chain fatty acid refers to a fat or oil in which constituent fatty acids in the fat or oil are Long-Chain, and is also referred to as LCT (Long Chain Triglyceride), LCT typically refers to a fat or oil composed of a fatty acid having 13 ~ 30 carbon atoms, preferably 13 ~ 24 carbon atoms, more preferably 13 ~ 18 carbon atoms, examples of the Long-Chain fatty acid include tetradecanoic acid, pentadecanoic acid, hexadecanoic acid, 9-hexadecenoic acid, octadecanoic acid, cis-9-octadecenoic acid, 11-octadecenoic acid, tetracosanoic acid, cis-15-tetracosanoic acid, triacontanoic acid, and the like, and may be an unsaturated fatty acid, and 3 Long-Chain fatty acids bonded to 1 glycerol constituting the fat or oil may be the same or different, and when a plurality of Long-Chain fatty acids are bonded, the ratio thereof is not particularly limited.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the fat or oil containing a long-chain fatty acid is preferably a fat or oil containing palmitic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid, and more preferably a fat or oil containing palmitic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid at a mass ratio in the range of 20 ~ 30:50 ~ 60:10 ~ 20.

Since oils and fats containing medium-chain fatty acids are present in seeds of plants such as coconut and palm fruit, milk, dairy products, and the like, oils and fats extracted (including crude extraction) or purified (including crude purification) from these may be used in the present invention. Since fats and oils containing long-chain fatty acids are present in the seeds of plants such as soybean, rapeseed, olive, and beef tallow and lard, fats and oils extracted (including crude extraction) or purified (including crude purification) from them can be used in the present invention.

In the present invention, the composition is a composition to be taken orally or through a tube (gastric fistula, intestinal fistula, transnasal tube). The form of the composition is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include solid, semisolid, liquid, and paste. Thus, the composition of the present invention can be taken orally or through tubes (gastric fistula, intestinal fistula, transnasal tube), for example, as a food, beverage, snack, nutritional agent, supplement, pharmaceutical product, and the like. In particular, the composition of the present invention can be made into liquid foods, semi-liquid foods, jellies, gels, powders, formula powders, fermented milks, bars, mousses, chocolates, biscuits, ice creams, etc.

In the present invention, the blending ratio of the medium-chain fatty acid-containing fat or oil in the composition is not particularly limited and may be suitably determined depending on the use or function of the composition, and for example, the fat or oil is preferably contained in an amount of 3g to 15g per 100g of the composition, more preferably 5g to 12g, and further preferably 7g to 10 g.

In the present invention, the amount of the fat or oil containing long-chain fatty acids in the composition is preferably 30% by mass or more and 200% by mass or less, more preferably 50% by mass or more and 120% by mass or less, and still more preferably 70% by mass or more and 100% by mass or less, relative to the amount of MCT.

In the present invention, the composition may contain any component in addition to the fat or oil containing a medium-chain fatty acid and the fat or oil containing a long-chain fatty acid. Examples of these optional components include water, proteins, lipids, sugars, dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, sweeteners, flavors, antioxidants, emulsifiers, thickeners, stabilizers, gelling agents, and pH adjusters.

When the composition of the present invention is ingested, the concentration of ketone bodies in blood (particularly, the concentration of β -hydroxybutyrate) does not differ significantly from that when fat or oil containing only medium-chain fatty acids is ingested, and the concentration of ketone bodies in blood (particularly, the concentration of β -hydroxybutyrate) can be increased in the same manner.
