1. An optical sensor device comprising:

an optical sensor (20) comprising an integrated circuit (21) arranged in or on a substrate (22), wherein the substrate (22) comprises at least a first surface area (23) and a second surface area (24),

-at least one optically active sensor component arranged on or in the substrate (22) of the first surface area (23), wherein the optically active sensor component is arranged for emitting and/or detecting light of a desired wavelength range,

-an optically inactive sensor circuit (27) arranged on or in the substrate (22) of the second surface area (24),

-a display panel (10) comprising an active display area (11) and a non-active display area (12), wherein the non-active display area (12) comprises a material that is optically transparent over a desired wavelength range and at least partially frames the active display area (11); and wherein

-the optical sensor (20) and the display panel (10) are stacked such that the first surface area (23) is arranged below the non-active display area (12) and the second surface area (24) is arranged below the active display area (11) with respect to the main direction of display emission (13).

2. Optical sensor device according to claim 1, wherein the optically active sensor component (25) comprises at least one light detector (25) and/or at least one light emitter (26).

3. The optical sensor device according to claim 2, wherein the light detector (25) comprises a single-pixel photodiode, a multi-pixel photodiode or a multi-pixel photodiode with a filter array attached.

4. Optical sensor device according to claim 2, wherein the light emitter (26) comprises a laser diode, a surface emitting laser, a vertical cavity surface emitting laser, an infrared light emitting photodiode and/or a visible light emitting photodiode.

5. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the optical inactive sensor circuit (27) comprises at least one of a logic component, an analog component and/or an electrical connection.

6. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 2 to 5, wherein the optical sensor comprises at least one further light detector (28).

7. Optical sensor device according to one of the claims 2 to 6, wherein the optical sensor comprises at least one further light emitter.

8. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the optical sensor (20) is a proximity sensor, a time-of-flight sensor, an ambient light sensor, a color sensor and/or a gesture sensor.

9. Optical sensor device according to claim 8, wherein the proximity sensor and/or the time-of-flight sensor comprise at least one light detector (25) and at least one light emitter (26).

10. The optical sensor device according to claim 8, wherein

-the light detector (25) and the light emitter (26) are both arranged on or in the substrate (22) of the first surface area (22), or

-the light detector (25) is arranged on or in the substrate (22) of the first surface area (22) and the light emitter (26) is arranged on or in the substrate (22) of the second surface area (23).

11. The optical sensor device according to claim 1, wherein

-the ambient light sensor and/or the color sensor comprise the at least one light detector (25), and

-the at least one light detector (25) is arranged on or in the substrate (22) of the first surface area (22).

12. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 1 to 11, wherein

-the optical sensor is encapsulated by a molded sensor package,

-the sensor package is arranged below the display panel (10) such that an air gap is maintained between the sensor package and the display panel (10), and

-the air gap has different values for a portion of the sensor package disposed below the non-active display area (12) and another portion of the sensor package disposed below the active display area (11).

13. Optical sensor device according to claim 12, wherein the at least one further light detector (28) and/or the at least one further light emitter are provided in the same sensor package or in separate sensor packages.

14. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 2 to 13, wherein an optical barrier (30) is provided on the integrated circuit (21) and/or on the substrate (22) to optically isolate the light detector (25) and the light emitter (26).

15. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 2 to 14, wherein the light detector and the light emitter are arranged at different heights with respect to the substrate (22).

16. Optical sensor device according to one of claims 1 to 15, wherein the integrated circuit (21) comprises the at least one optically active sensor component and the optically inactive sensor circuit (27).

17. Optical sensor device according to claim 16, wherein the integrated circuit (21) has a portion defined by the first surface area (23) and a portion defined by the second surface area (24).
